Lazy Weekend

Finally got a weekend all to myself...  With No getaway plan on the schedule, I was able to enjoy a Lazy Weekend!!!  Something we all need, now and again... To Regroup...  Catch up on Rest...  Reenergize...

Well, it is not so lazy as I still have a few things that needed to be taken care of...  Work n Housechores...  But in between, am able to have a nice meal with Juliana, go through a few of my boxes that needed tending to - and there's a whole lot more...

...and even got to watch 3 Seasons of Sons of Anarchy - a very cool, intense and violently real show with Great Talents: Charlie Hunnam, Katey Segal n Ron Pearlman headlining...   Pretty much blew my whole Saturday between work, cleaning up, and watching the show...  Can't believe am just finally catching the show now...  3 Seasons down..  3 more to go to get caught up...

Have been a fan of Charlie Hunnam since he first appeared on the scene in BBC's Queer As Folk...  Showed promised then, and fulfilled it much more in this show...  I can even forgive him for dropping out of 50 Shades of Grey.

Hump Day Special!

Can't believe I have actually been able to religiously follow this GMA Telesrye...  Still obsessed and Amazed and at times, Baffled, with the twist n turns of the show - but still am enjoying it enough to follow along and ride through it all - no matter how plausible and predictable things might get....  they still manage to surprise now and again....  and the ACTING never fails - either just right on from the leads - or over the top from the supporting casts....  

Of Course having these two eye candies, Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo, help a whole lot!!!

American Horror Story.2

Once Again am blown away by this series....  Watched the whole 2nd Season in two sittings...

The first season scared the crap out of me...  Took me by surprise actually as I had nit seen anything like it on TV..  Especially nothing I expected from the creators  and producers of GLEE...  I was hooked from the very 1st episode...  And the whole season did not disappoint, except when it ended it's run...

Loooong wait for the 2nd one for me...  But am glad I waited till I could get my hands on a DVD copy with the complete season in it already...  I took my time to watch it...  I wanted a time where I can really sit through the episodes one after another.,,  believe me that was hard...  I mean the anticipation of seeing where the producers and writers took the show for it's sophomore run...   Hearing friends in the US talk about how great it has been...  Seeing some of the finest actors around right now on TV , headed by Jessica Lange...  Plus other returnees: Zachary Quinto, Lilly Rabe, Sarah Paulson & Evans Peters...  Thrown in the talented newcomers to the show, Jim Cromwell, Chloe Sveginy, Clea Duvall and Joseph Fiennes...  Then a dash of surprise returnees: Dylan McDermott & Frances Conroy...  I was in for a really surprising, suspenseful, topsy turvy, 2 day marathon of Season 2...  Oh of course, worth mentioning Adam Levine in a few episodes - Heaven!!!  

 Am so glad i did not read any reviews or fanfare for Season 2...  Everything really came as a Shock... A Surprise...  Another season worth savouring!!!

The actors are soooo great, it is a given already with the uber talented Jessica Lange..  She was robbed of an Emmy btw...  But the others really held up their  own...  They were all surprisingly  and satisfyingly good!!!  I was hesitant at first, how am I going to forget them in their roles from last season - but not only did I not remember, i was juiced up and totally could not wait, episode per episode, to see what their characters were up to...  Truly some of the finest actors on TV at the moment...  I say they all should have been nominated for Emmys...  Even if they do not get to take home the statuettes, at least be rewarded with nods...

So I hear Kathy Bates is joining the 3rd Season cast...  I can only imagine the Juicy Duels she will have with Miss Lange..  Both of them Oscar Caliber actresses!!!

OMG!!!  I cannot believe it has been almost a month since my LAST ENTRY.....  where have all the time gone by..... and why soooooo fast???   So here I am trying to catch up once more....  and of course, starting with another HUMP DAY entry... of course, that is ALWAYS a good place to start... am sure no one is complaining....

 

Last week I was able to catch up with SPARTACUS SEASON 4 - now, anyone's seen the show knows that it is never lacking of BLOOD, SWEAT and STEAMY SEXY SCENES....  and though, Season's past have eluded to GAY LOVE - none, quite like the one in Season 4....   where a couple of MAJOR Secondary Male Characters are indeed, IN LOVE... IN LUST... and are more than HAPPY TO SHOW IT!!!

Vampire Diaries: Season 3

Just got through watching the last 5 episodes of last season's Vampire Diaries.... Finally!!!

Have mixed emotions over this... I do not mind that it was not as flashy as 2nd Season's Finale... And am even relishing the fact that Damon did see Elena before Stefan.. Surprising twist am happy with... And to be rid of Klaus (finally! Was sooooo tired of his idle threats...) - though i see he is now possessing Tyler's body... So he is not dead and can come back again...

Other things am not so happy about:

-give Caroline something else to do besides being tortured every sooo episodes... Was even excited with the possibility that Klaus will take her and show her around, per his invitation... ( and yes for this, I was willing to still welcome his stay... LOL)..

-what's the used of giving Tyler extra ordinary powers if he does not even get to use them....

-Bonnie should just get back with Jeremy and that's that!!!

-is Matt really dead? If so, this is Sad... Though they do not give him much to do, he is still pretty to look at.. :)

-i did not see Rebecca die , so I do hope she is not dead yet... She is fun whenever she is around and being bratty...

At this time, I read that the cast are back for Season 4 already... I wish that Elena will really be a Vampire already... And that Rececca and her will get into a biiiiig cat/ vampiric fight... Throw in Caroline for Great measure.... :)

Of Hunks, Horror & Hump Day!

Am not one to watch scary films - unless they have Vampires or Werewolves, of course! - much more a weekly TV SHOW filled with scary ghosts...  but my, oh  my, am I glad I broke down and gave this show, American Horror Story, a chance....  Got the DVD last time I was in Manila and have been watching all of Season 1 the last few days....

Okay for starter, Jessica Lange is in it!  She does not miss a beat - no matter how short her scene is... no matter how many lines or no lines she has to give, this woman chews up the scenery...  all eyes on her....  still I cannot shortchange the supporting cast, who are all SUPERB...   Besides Jessica Lange being in it, the only other thing I know is that Dylan McDermott is one of the leads, as well...  yes, hunky Dylan from The Practice.... he has been missed....  but with this show, you will get your fill of him as he is in many states of undress almost each and every week....  Not Complaining here, mind you... :)  He is even Hunkier than ever!!!  At 50 years old, he gives actors half his age a run for their money... 

But getting back to this super creepy show - what a ride each and every episode.....  the hair on my arms (and legs!) stands up each time I watch it...  I can only take one or two episode each sitting...  even cannot believe it is from the same creators that brought us GLEE!!!   Except for some quirky characters running about each shows, there really is no other similarities anymore....  The opening scene alone, set in the 70's with Twin Boys meeting their demise at this creepy mansion in the first few minutes is already sets the mood as to what's to come.... 

The premise is quite simple really:  Family of three relocates from Boston to Los Angeles, you learn a bit later on that one of the reason is the Father's (Dylan McDermott) infidelities....   buying this giant mansion for 1/3 of the real value should have tipped them off and question it all - but then, we would not have this wonderful show....  Connie Britton as the wife is a stand out, too....  Tough and Sensitive at the same time....   Each episode brings a host of new characters and one can never be truly sure who is ALIVE and who is just there to bring on some FRIGHT....   and I do like the fact that almost all of them, so far, have  had a full story....  either within the episode, or carried over a few episode..... 

This FX show (and a good thing it is on FX - they get away with more Gore, Blood and Sex on cable!) must truly be POPULAR already even amongst the stars, as a host of familiar faces from the BIG and SMALL SCREEN have turned up as Guests or Semi Regulars....  either that or the CLOUT that the producers carry lures them in....  amongst the semi regulars are Dennis O'Hare (True Blood); Francis Conroy (Six Feet Under); Kate Mara (Brokeback Mountain); Eric Close, Mena Suvari (American Beauty); Charles S. Dutton,  etc....   and  Zachary Quinto (quite hilarious each appearance) & Teddy Sears are quite noteworthy as the  quarreling Gay Couple Ghosts!!!

If you have not seen this show yet, in case am not the only late bloomer here, pls do check it out... truly one of the most exciting, scary, sexy, well crafted and well acted shows ever to grace our living rooms....

REVENGE is SWEET!

One of the Guilty Pleasures and yes, somewhat of an ESCAPE for me when am in Manila tending to everything else going on is to watch DVDs of movies and TV Shows I am missing out on... and not having Cable at home, nor time really, I really do miss out on a lot....  Must rely  word of mouth from friends recommending them to Facebook posts boasting about shows.....  Mags....  etc....  just to keep up....  and THANK GOD for them, or else I completely miss a good show...  and THANK GOD, even more, for DVDs - especially here in the Philippines, one can get a copy of just about anything....   

REVENGE is such a show...   COMPELLING DRAMA....  multi layered characters....  great writing....  and beautiful, sexy and talented cast that keeps you glued....  and we are talking multi generations here....  Madeline Stowe looking as luminous as I remember her from The Last of the Mohicans (am sure, Daniel Day Lewis will still make the same promise as he did in the movie: "I Will FInd You!") and Emily Van Camp of Brothers and Sisters fame - all that promise she showed in the just cancelled show - delivers here.....    and she has such a fragile beauty you are compelled to watch her and agonize with her (even when she is doing bad things - justified or not...)   They both have such EXPRESSIVE EYES on cannot  help it but be HYPNOTIZED!

And the supporting casts are noteworthy, too....  from the HOTTIES that are sure to flood the Net and various publications...   to familiar faces....  even Super Model Amber Valetta is in and out of the show - from the eps I have seen so far!!!   Possibly the prettiest cast on TV right now - well, after The Vampire Diaries, that is!

some WEEDS are good for ya!

Thanks to Juliana, I found my newest addiction... okay okay Obsession really.... Showtime's WEEDS.... already in it's 7th Season, I just got hooked watching Seasons 1 thru 5, in less than a week... LOL... it's humorous, raw, gritty, and well, casted.... so talented people are here - some I have liked over the years - in particular, lead & the show's central figure, Mary Louise Parker.... not that the others are reduced to supporting scenes only - they too, get to shine... and shine these other great talents do: Justin Kirk, Kevin Nealon, Elizabeth Perkins, etc... and I just have to give a special mention to new TV CRUSH, HOTTIE Hunter Parrish (he is the Nancy Botwin's just turned 18 son - and actually one of the more sane and matured character in the show....) did not even know he is the same as the bad boy in 17 Again....So many familiar and talented movie and TV faces have turned up, too: Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jessica Biel, Alanis Morrisette, Mary Kate Olsen, Albert Brooks, Richard Dreyfuss, Kate del Castillo, to name a few.. all used and fitted in rather nicely, no one wasted in their roles - no matter how small or big, or how long they stayed in the show....

I love the way the show is written.... always on the verge of realism and the absurd.... almost like real life... but you do get those instances where something is just too shocking to believe... and yet you say to yourself: "it could happen..."

Anyway, am not much of a reviewer... just a fanatic - whenever a show really captivates me - and this one has got me captivated, through and through.... now bring on Season 6 before Season 7 finishes.....

This trip I was able to find Complete 1st Season of GLEE on DVD - everyone's Fave TV Show of the moment.... so needless to say, I have been playing it over and over.... even to just have it in the background as I work is such a stress reliever... truly makes me wanna sing and dance with the rest of the cast... the show, the stars, the songs... they all put a SMILE on my face each and every number.... one gets to hear a GREAT MIX of so many songs one grew up plus what is Popular and being overplayed now... (^_*) really something for everyone... not just Broadway Tunes and POP songs, but also Rap, Rock, Funk, etc.....

Could not help but single out this Charlie Chaplin tune - simple and breathtaking... it simple verses can still get to you - and the casts' delivery is a fresh & beautiful take on this old time classic...

sink your TEETH into THESE SHOWS!!!

The last few weeks I was once again getting caught up on all the TV shows am missing on.... this time out, ac ouple of the VAMPIRE series that are heating up the internet and the boob tubes all over the world: "Vampire Diaries" & "True blood" - both about modern day vampires that, in the tradition of Twilight - breaks all the rules and myth of what we were told to believe in from previous movies and novels, say Dracula or even, The Vampire Chronicles....

Let me start with the one I prefer more, The Vampire Diaries"... not only because Ian Somerhalder is one of the three lead cast, though certainly enough reason, but because it has more of the elements I love about my vampire shows... the drama & humour that I loved with Buffy, The Vampire Slayer; the hip and moderness of Gossip Girl (albeit they suck not blood but everything else... LOL); and the mystery and suspense of what one needs to hold the audience for an hour each week... plus to keep me coming back for more.... and did I say, Ian Somerhalder is one of the leads -already a favorite of mine since his Felicity & Lost years... in the show, a la the Vampire Lestat - he is neither good, nor bad... he is wicked but he cares and he loves.... tormented by passion & obsession, Ian definitely stands out of the pack in his role here.... and not to say less of the other casts, too many hunks running around this show, Alive, Dead or Undead...

Now, am not saying that I do not like the other show, "True Blood" - I do like it as well... and being on HBO, the show can get bloddier, racier and more adult oriented... and that it does it job well, really well.... not an episode goes by without flesh flashing on the screen... one of the main characters in the heat of passion... and just plain old Sex, Sex and more Sex.... if Sex really sells, then they do sell alot here... and it is SOLD by every single HOT CAST member... leads... supporting... guests...

Oscar Winning Actress Anna Paquin, from The Piano & X-Men fame leads the large casts... most of them unknown to me, or most of us for that matter - until now.... from what I gather, most everyone in the show is a household name already.... for me, no one could be sexier in the show than the Aussie born, Ryan Kwanten - who plays Sookie's hunky, hot blooded, sex fiend, not much up there, older brother......

Capt Jack Lands on Wisteria Lane

Okay, so I have not seen the last 2 seasons of Desperate Housewives... but now, I have a reason to revisit the cul-de-sac - with the recent announcement that John Barrowman landing a 5 episode arc gig in the show... heard all this from the talented Mr Barrowman's voice, himself, while guesting on a fave Sunday BBC Radio Show, Elaine Page on BBC Radio...

And as if that is not enough... even got to hear him sing live in the studio -- singing UNUSUAL WAY from the movie NINE... this song is part of his newest CD Album... what treat!!! I was just thinkingm, when seeing NINE how I would love to hear a man sing this song - and lo and behold, not just any man - from one of my fave man alive....

As an added BONUS - am hearing BBC's TORCHWOOD, where John plays the multi sexual Captain Jack will be back for a 4th Season... WOW!!! now I gotta get my hands on the 5 episode 3rd season....

New Addiction: The Tudors

The last few weeks, we have been totally addicted and enthralled by SHOWTIME's The Tudors... so addicted that we have seen all 3 SEASONS on DVD at least twice!!! So much to take in, so much history and dialogue... so much so that we even find ourselves GOOGLING for more INFO and reading in the BOOKSHOPS anything and everything else we can to CONFIRM who is who and how close to history the show is... which is to say, pretty close... AND MORE!!!

The more part comes from the dramatization of course of the actual stories of the lives and loves of King Henry VIII - and everyone else in his court, in his times... one look at the promotional ads/posters from this SHOWTIME series and you will see that the series has so much added SEX APPEAL - from the actors to the actual scenes... playing the King with so much GUSTO is Jonathan Rhys Meyers - a fave actor of mine from Mission Impossible III, MATCH POINT, August Rush and HUGO BOSS & ENERGIE Ads... one cannot help but be hypnotized by his piercing eyes and acting chops... and the rest of the cast is OUTSTANDING... lots of GREAT ACTORS have come and gone on the show: Sam Neil, Peter OToole, Max Von Sydow, Jeremy Northam, to name a few... and also worth mentioning are Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn (shines throughout Season 2) & HOTTIE Henry Cavill as Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk (Series Regular since Season 1)...

am a GLEEK!!!

Since I came home last Monday, it has been non-stop rain in Taipei -- which made it hard to go out and do any kind of exercise... too wet to run by the river, too cold for a dip in the pool (though believe me I still try BOTH!)... and when it rains here like CATS & DOGS, it is even harder to get motivated to run my errands.... so instead, in between catching up with work and personal matters to attend to, I alleviate the monotony of my days by watching GLEE...

Did not know much about the show 'cept it is about a High School GLEE Club and that it has a lot of singing and dancing, as I have been seeing the video postings of the show's musical numbers on both YOU TUBE and FACEBOOK... and of course, it just won the latest People's Choice Award for FAVE NEW TV COMEDY SHOW...

What a laugh a minute!!! The show is really funny and fun.... love all the musical numbers - each one entices one to jump up and dance & sing along.... love that all the characters gets their turn in the spotlight - to sing or dance or both... love the WITTY and often jaw dropping dialogue/lines - especially the ones that comes out of Sue's mouth (she is the BRASSY Cheerleading Coach)... love the GAY boy and his FUNNY "SINGLE LADIES" bit.... and don't get me started on the Mohawk boy who plays PUCK, Mark Salling... young Brad Pitt in my opinion with a voice and rhythm to equal the looks.... even the the teacher who heads the GLEE Club is too cool to watch.. not drop dead gorgeous but once he sings and dances - you will be swooning -- for sure!!!

Each episode is jam packed with musical numbers - and the choices, albeit funny at times, works for me... I mean what other show can do a MASH UP of The Thong Song with I could Have Danced ALl Nite - lordy!!! So far, a lot of my FAVE songs have been used, Beyonce's HALO, Jordin Sparks' NO AIR, Niel Diamond's SWEET CAROLINE, Lez Miz's ON MY OWN - did I not say eclectic selection... cannot wait what other songs they will be covering...

Just finished watching all 16 episodes this afternoon... and Am craving for more... not even sure how many eps have been shown already... so for sure I will be on the look out for the rest.... or fill my withdrawals with bits and pieces on YOU TUBE...

so this past weekend I was reminded what I miss most in Taiwan television -- watching One Million Star (Taiwan's American Idol)... i miss seeing some really good, and some, not so good but kinda' funny performances form the local talent... plus I get to practice my Mandarin singing prowess.... hahahahahaha....

I say I miss it as for the last couple of years, we have made a conscious effort to not watch television so much... to not get caught up in any shows religiously that we cannot do anything or go anywhere for fear of missing a single episode... in pother words, we try to avoid being COUCH POTATOES in this household... LOLs.... so, besides an occasional DVD showing, we really do not get to watch TV much...

Anyway, last Friday Lyn & Shaun had a little SHABU SHABU nite for a few friends and us in their new home... so we were there for a good couple of hours and the TV was on... and it just so happened that my FAVE show, One Million Star was on... boy was I hooked, once more... why? because of this guy, Anthony Lee Neely(SP?)... not only does he have a rich, manly voice when singing either English or Chinese (so pure and such control) -he is also blessed with the looks, the cuteness to go with the voice.... take a listen of his version of The Blower's Daughter from the movie, CLOSER - even without looking at him... you will get butterflies in your tummy, GUARANTEED!!!

Today I woke up to this SAD NEWS: After her 4 year battle with Cancer, one of Charlie's Original Angels and my Personal Favorite, Farrah Fawcett, dies at 62.

Excerpt from the YAHOO REPORT:

"After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away," Farrah's longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal, said in a statement to Access. "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."

Friday the 15th, NBC airs (aired depending on which time zone you are in...) Farrah's Story, Ms Fawcett's chronicle of her brave battle with CANCER -- since diagnosed back in 2006...
I so wish I could see this... am sure it will be INSPIRATIONAL.... as she has been since making a SPLASH as one of the ORIGINAL Charlie's Angels. Totally underrated, she proved her acting talents in subsequent projects on TV, Movies & the stage, such as Bruning Bed, Extremities, Murder in Texas, Poor Little Rich Girl, etc...

I am one of those boys who grew up with that infamous poster of her in the red bathing suit... watched Charlie's Angels religiously... and even collected photos and memorabilia of her and the show avidly...

Through the years, she has remained an icon, and a household name... through ups and downs, through her relationships... and throughout I have remained a BIG FAN! Always getting excited when I see photos of her in the news; seen her latest projects, etc...

From the recent reports, her health issues has been taking it's toll on her... and no one is sure how much longer she has - fighter that she is... but throughout, she has remained a POSITIVE PERSON - who still believes in MIRACLES... and now, I, along with countless of others - DO PRAY FOR ONE OF HER OWN.

Okay, with Thanksgiving just around the corner - I got to thinking about some of the TRADITIONS I had back in San Francisco... family & friends get-together; touch football with friends; pigging out; and the BEST of all, watching the Thanksgiving Episode of FRIENDS! Each and every season, it is the one episode I try not to miss -- they always come up with something really fun and funny... Thank GOD for youtube - one can always catch them, anytime of the year...

...last nite I cried....

...over the news of this Taiwanese girl committing suicide at the age of 23... it is SAD enough when one hears or reads about this kind of thing -- even if you do not know the person formally or informally... but when it is someone you feel you kinda' know - it can truly affect you... and that is just what it did to me yesterday...

Ivy Li (Lee) was the 2nd runner up in the 3rd year of the Popular Taiwanese Show, >One Million Star, and she was my FAVORITE from the get go.... This show has become a favorite of ours and would watch religiously every Friday nite... None more so for me, than in the year that Ivy was on.. Week after week, I look forward to hearing her sing be it Chinese, English, or Taiwanese... She was not a Great Looker, but she had style and charm -- and just the right amount of sweetness when she spoke. Real, not trying... and boy, can she sing!!! I actually wished for her to have been the winner but alas, it was not in the cards... and she came in third. I recall being IRATE each week with a judge or two for faulting her for one thing or another - usually for singing in ENGLISH one week, then being told that she was better the week prior singing in English... Lols... it is just really a matter of taste... and one's personal opinion... so I just watched it to enjoy her performances.. and just knew, that she had a promising career ahead of her...

So it pained me to hear that she killed herself just yesterday... and that it had something to do with Love Gone Bad. Truly upsetting and incomprehensible for me... I understand loving someone too much, being sooo hurt that you feel empty and alone... but to actually kill myself - that is just something I cannot see... But it is different for all of us -- and only we can truly battle our own devils... and we deal with them the way we know how... and for some it is this way...

Am just really sorry and was affected by this LOSS of LIFE... One Million Star shines one less with her passing...

HEROES : Season 3

Just caught the 2 Hour Premiere Episode of Season 3 here in Taiwan last Thursday... on STAR WORLD... Can it be any cooler??? If I was not HOOKED then, am totally or even more HOOKED now.... so many things going on.... so glad I got to see the rest of SEASON 2 via DVD during my last stay in Manila....

The Season looks really promising so far... major Villains... more DRAMA.... lots of new twists - cool (Dr Suresh gets powers!) & sick (Sylar is brother to the Petrelli Brothers!)... aaaah... I cannot wait for the next few episode - that will be tomorrow nite... Sadly, it is way behind here in Taiwan... I see it is already Episode 8 in the US... but it is OK, am more than willing to wait and savour it all....

My only complain from the Premiere Ep is that Elle was let go which made me sad as Kristen Bell is sooo good and funny in her role... but I see from the LINK below that she comes back biiig time later on.... can't wait for that!!!
