It's that Old Devil Called Love!

Here we go again...   way into the LOVE MONTH ....  actually in just one more day (Taiwan Time) it will be Valentine's Day once more....  A day of Flowers, Chocolates and other Love Gifts - Big or Small - all to profess Love to our significant others, or those we wish would be our significant others.  As Christmas and Thanksgiving is a time for all loved ones - family and friends, Valentine's Day gets a bit more exclusive and personal - mainly meant for partners, lovers, significant others!

 

I for one, just like any other Holiday, get excited over this....  not so much anymore about flowers or chocolates I used to expect - but more now, about that something in the air that makes most people smile a bit more....  be loving a bit more....  and we all know, we could always use a bit more loving in this world!  So enjoy the Special Day Lovers....   it matters not what you do, what you get, what words are uttered or not uttered....  what matters is that you are with someone you love.... and God willing , someone that Loves you, too!!! 

 

And if so happen that you find yourself single on this day - go and enjoy the day still....  share it with a good friend, with family, or even just by yourself doing something you absolutely Love!!!

So Thankful for all the opportunities to travel last year... Besides the numerous trips to see family in the Philippines , was able to fit in Nagoya, Okinawa. Thailand , Myanmar & Hong Kong.

Loved seeing the snow - in the Nagoya region of Japan - again, having not seen it for a long time; spending Holy Week in the Philippines for the first time - such an emotional experience; Disneyland through Juju's eyes; and being able to add another country, Myanmar/Burma, to the list of countries visited.  Revisiting Okinawa was a lot of Fun, and this time around, a tastier treat as we ate sooooo much!!!   And seeing the awesome Holiday displays in Manila and Bangkok are always a FAVE of mine.  So many first time experiences in 2014 - and I love them all!

Halloween, Taipei Style!

Halloween is really not that big here in Taiwan - mostly relegated to the International Schools and PUBs frequented by expats...  Even the Department Stores are not much into it... A few decors here and there, mostly in the candies and chocs section...  Makes me miss the Halloweens spent growing up In the Bay Area...

Still, Juju and I managed to find something and make the most of the Holiday..  Celebrating best we could...  This year it was spent at Maji Square.

Juju as a Bat Girl was truly happy....   not sure why some Chinese parents do not want to let their kids celebrate Halloween - nevermind that it is not a Traditional Chinese Holiday, it is a FUN one for kids...

Now, am not well versed on Pinoy music , really..  I actually own more Spanish CDs than OPM but I do have my faves!!!

Gary V - i have admired and idolized growing up in the Bay  Area to present...  Others I discovered during trips in Manila - some i hear on the TAXI ( Ogie Alcasid, Wency, Nina, Yeng) or bought for the first time just because the CD cover caught my eyes (Mark Bautista, Ariel Rivera, Jericho Rosales)...

Then there's Piolo Pascual - totally different level of admiration😜😜😜.   Besides Gary V and Mark Bautista, his CDs are the only ones I buy without fail!

Happy Mother's Day!

This month now only marks the celebration of Mother's Day, it also marks the 2nd Year Anniversary of my mom's Death...  

I still cannot believe it has been 2 years already...  Memories of my monthly trips to  Manila as she battled Breast Cancer are still fresh in my mind, as well as the Heart...it surely so Bittersweet - Sweet that i got to spend more time with her before passing away..  Bitter that it was under  the terrible circumstances..  

It was one of the lowest point in my life..  Having to go through the experience with my mom..  Trying to pretend to be strong to make her smile and give her more reasons to hang in there a but more...  And going through a few things in my own Personal life at the same time..

Still, I managed to survive it all..  I figured, if my Mom could live through the agony of what she was going through with the Cancer - sleepless nights, pain and discomfort, and the emotionally draining realization of what she was facing - what I was going through was small enough to overcome...  And overcome all of it, I did...  And I honestly believe, with her help, I became a stronger person.,,  Thanks Mom!

Lantern Festival 2014

Be sure not to miss this year's Lantern Festival display happening now at the various Taipei Flora Expo Pavilions in the Jhongshang district.

An abundance of Glorious, Amazing, Creative, whimsical, wonderful lanterns

to thrill the young and old alike.

Had the pleasure of visiting and admiring them earlier this week with Juju...  Lights are turned on by 5:30PM... And a light show everynite at about 7:30PM.  We were lucky enough to get there just a little after 5PM so not too many people yet..  

This is one of my most FAVE pieces on display...  Dragon, of course!

The drops if rain did not bother us st all..  Way too many nice lanterns to thrill us.. And in some cases the rain is even an added touch as the lanterns' reflections on the wet grounds added to the beauty of it all!

KHH for CNY 2014: Part 2

The rest of the time in Kaohsiung for the Chibese New Year Holiday was quite relaxing...  Especially with the Boys working and away in Military duties...  Still, we sure made the most of our time..... 

Mornings were spent on loooong walks with Liya and the doggies...  

Afternoons having coffee...  And evenings just relaxing...

Thursday the 30th was extra fun as Both Todd and Johnny starts their CNY holidays..  So we get 2 days with them... Running around..  Helping prepare for the Chinese New Year's Eve....  Then the celebration itself...

Our last day, the 31st, was spent going to a couple of Temples...  Hanging out at the park with the whole Wu Clan...  And in the evening, going to Love River to see some Lanterns already on display...  And a boat ride around the river....
