UNICORNO by tokidoki

April 22nd will see the Debut of tokidoki's newest Blind Box Item offerrings: UNICORNO!!! There will be 8 Regular Versions of this KAWAII Unicorn character plus a couple of SPECIAL ones: Fumo with a chance of 1/50 and Prima Donna at 1/200 (Good Luck To Me!). Unicorno figures are 2.5" tall.

SUGI POP!!!

Popular tokidoki artist and creator, Simone Legno, joins a roster of cool and popular POP artists for an Exhibition going on (in the USA!) right now thru the 16th of January 2011.... Other artists participating in the exhibition are Artists in this exhibition include: Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, KAWS, Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, ...and MANY more! The exhibition is entitled SUGI POP -- "Sugi" is Japanese for "too much" which plays on the sometime over the top art these talented artists creates... The above mentioned talented artists integrate influences from anime and manga, graffiti street art, and consumer culture to create the newest phenomenon this exhibition dubs: SugiPOP!. This multi-media exhibition includes painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and original artwork used to make anime films and manga comics. Am pretty sure that this exhibition will WOW crowds of all ages. I only wish I could fly out to view them all in person.

I totally missed out on the tokidoki X MAC cosmetics - I do not plan on doing so with this newly announced collaboration... not that am after tokidoki collection will never ever be completer all the cosmetics to use, but because no tokidoki collection will be TRULY COMPLETE without a representation of each of the brand's collaboration.... PLUS, I see two cute little figures in the forms of key charms that accompanies the eyeshadow sets....

BLack Eyes Peas X tokidoki

I remember seeing this photo of FERGIE a couple of years back, sporting a tokidoki tee, as she enters her recording studio.... I remember feeling HAPPY & PROUD, as one one of my MOST FAVE artist is wearing one of my FAVE designer's tee... oh what little PLEASURE we get knowing we are not the only ones GA GA over something... and to see a favorite celebrity as well, added extra pleasure....

Now I see that the newest Black Eyed Peas Concert Tees are designed none other than mr tokidoki himself, Simone Legno... and what cool tees they are... I hear they can only be purchased by attending one of the concerts - to that I say, come to TAIWAN (or MANILA) and do a CONCERT PLZ!!! and don't forget to bring the tees.....

ACTUAL TEE LOGO - available in different tee colors. Now am wishing a FERGIE vinyl toy will be produced, much like the Karl Langerfeld one!!!

Simone Legno X TARGET

FINALLY!!! My box of Simone Legno designed, "Back To School 2009" goodies for TARGET, USA have arrived... actually picked it up from the Post office last Friday, but waited till everything slows down a bit to TEAR INTO THE BOX...

The graphics are just too cool - but what else can one expect from tokidoki design master, himself! From what I hear, the goods SOLD OUT quite FAST... so am very GRATEFUL for my friend, Iveta, for picking them up for me - and making sure I get at least one of everything available... MUCH APPRECIATED, Iveta!!!

Taipei Toy Festival - Photos Up!!!

As you already know, my main reason for attending this event, besides all the cool Vinyl Toys was to FINALLY meet in person, tokidoki creator/designer, Simone Legno... I had already missed him a couple of times before - once in Manila and another time here in Taipei... So this time around I made sure I will be in attendance...

It was a 4 day event, starting Thurs the 9th, the day I came back from my last Manila trip... still feeling a bit under the weather, I made sure I took my meds, vitamins, and drink lots of juices to get better and be able to attend... Saturday the 11th was date of choice to attend... Perfect day for Juliana and Sue - alas, due to unforseen reasons, Cecilia could not come and it worked out well as David got the day off from work and was able to use the extra ticket.

For NT$150 (US$4.50) - we got to enjoy a day's worth of meeting and greeting the featured designers; get to see in person so many toys and products I only got to see online and in magazines; but and get personally authographed those that appealed to us; and of course, SIMONE LEGNO. He was totally nice, accommodating and sweet... could not have been happier. We got our goods signed, personalized, took photos with him and of course, chatted a bit... it was PURE HEAVEN for us all!!!

Well, it was more like HEAVEN & HELL!!! HEAVEN as we were loving all that was on displayed abnd being offered... HELL as it was not good for the pockets, as most hobbies, are not. Two things worked in my favour though and I saved myself a lot of expenses: 1) I pretty much have all the tokidoki goods made so far... and 2) the other stuff I was looking for, from different designers & tokidoki, were not available... except I did luck out and found the LE Platinum Version of SABOCHAN... so of course, I snapped this one right away -- happily so!!!Some of my Purchases (Clockwise) tokidoki X Bearbrick: Issued for the Taipei Festival; Levi's X tokidoki tee; LE Platinum Edition Sabochan; Oli Bears "Heaven & Hell"

tokidoki for target (SCOOP)

Thanks to my friend, Iveta in the USA, I found out about these 4 new tokidoki characters designed especially for TARGET...

Not much INFO yet but they were introduced in one of the company's DM... for a BACK TO SCHOOL promo, am sure. As, according to Iveta: "they will be used for a line of school supplies - notebooks, binders, backbacks and tees." You know I would want them all.... so am POSTING now for help on keeping a look out for me, as am told TARGET starts getting Back To School goodies by the first week of JULY... Besides, it is never too early to BEG!!! hahahahahahaha

tokidoki X bearbrick II

Saturday February 28th is the big release of the second tokidoki x Bearbrick at Royal T, in Culver City. We are very excited about adding a second Bearbrick to the tokidoki family, LA Robber!!!

This was released in conjunction to the opening of the tokidoki shop on Melrose Ave. - LA district.

To my DELIGHT, the local shop in TAIWAN, Monster Gear, got a few in and I was LUCKY enough to have been notified to pick one up.... LA ROBBER tokidoki Bearbrick

Tickled Pink!

Get ready to Rumble!!!
The Pink Variation of the tokidoki Tiger Series is Finally in the House!!! This little one gave me a bit of a hard time, got me on the run scrounging around for him... I got the other three in Taipei - but this one was SOLD OUT... then I tried to get some friends to pick him up in MANILA but to no avail also... Good Thing the tokidoki shop in Los Angeles still have it - and I am now able to complete the set. Extra THANKS to Mary for helping me get Pinky here....
Just glad he is not too pink... just the right shade of PINK for me....
Soon Pinky gets to join the rest of the TIGER Tribe!!!

tokidoki XMas Tree - I WANT ONE!!!

Boo Hoo... somebody beat me to a tokidoki themed XMas Tree...
even a HANNUKAH MENORAH to boot!!!!
Look at all these tokidoki goodies doubling as ornaments.... This is TRULY a tokidoki heavenly XMas!!!

Okay, am really not that upset about being beaten to a tokidoki themed XMas tree - as this is done at Royal T in Los Angeles, close by to the tokidoki offices. Royal T is a Cafe, Tea House, and from what I read, "a gallery full of Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami, Aya Nakano and a host of other equally awe-inspiring artists". YOWZA!!! It sounds like a MUST SEE place....
