Lantern Festival 2014

Be sure not to miss this year's Lantern Festival display happening now at the various Taipei Flora Expo Pavilions in the Jhongshang district.

An abundance of Glorious, Amazing, Creative, whimsical, wonderful lanterns

to thrill the young and old alike.

Had the pleasure of visiting and admiring them earlier this week with Juju...  Lights are turned on by 5:30PM... And a light show everynite at about 7:30PM.  We were lucky enough to get there just a little after 5PM so not too many people yet..  

This is one of my most FAVE pieces on display...  Dragon, of course!

The drops if rain did not bother us st all..  Way too many nice lanterns to thrill us.. And in some cases the rain is even an added touch as the lanterns' reflections on the wet grounds added to the beauty of it all!

KHH for CNY 2014: Part 2

The rest of the time in Kaohsiung for the Chibese New Year Holiday was quite relaxing...  Especially with the Boys working and away in Military duties...  Still, we sure made the most of our time..... 

Mornings were spent on loooong walks with Liya and the doggies...  

Afternoons having coffee...  And evenings just relaxing...

Visited some FAVE haunts, Dream Mall - of course!!!

Thursday the 30th was extra fun as Both Todd and Johnny starts their CNY holidays..  So we get 2 days with them... Running around..  Helping prepare for the Chinese New Year's Eve....  Then the celebration itself...

Welcoming Johnny Wu Home with our versions of the Military Salute...  LOL!!!

Our last day, the 31st, was spent going to a couple of Temples...  Hanging out at the park with the whole Wu Clan...  And in the evening, going to Love River to see some Lanterns already on display...  And a boat ride around the river....

PILI Exhibition

Head back on to the 1914 Huanshan Creative Arts Center to take in the Art of PILI Exhibition....   PILI of course are a cross between dolls and puppets made and quite popular all over Taiwan and a few Chinese speaking countries....   PILI has grown from performing in night markets during the Chinese Holidays...  to their own popular TV SHOWs and Serials.... and soon capturing the 3D movie going crowds with their very own 3D film...

The exhibition boasts so many of the original puppets/dolls used in their many serials....   so this is quite exciting to see for the shows' followers....  Original art, illustrations and planning sketches were also on hand...  various intricately designed weapons....   elaborate settings....  and of course, the glorious costumes are enough to marvel at....    even if one is not a follower of these shows, it will still be quite an amazing exhibition to see - just to revel at the artistry and craftsmanship's of all the people who make these dolls/puppets come to life!!!

a few mass produced merchandise, based on the much loved characters, were also on display...

Hungry Ghost Festival – 中元节

The Hungry Ghost Festival, also called simply as Ghost Festival (Chinese 中元节 – zhongyuanjie) is one of the many traditional Chinese festivals celebrated by the Chinese communities in many countries. The festival usually falls on the 15th night of the seventh lunar month. In Chinese custom, the seventh month of the Chinese lunar calendar is regarded as the Ghost Month and the 15th day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar is often called as Ghost Day.

It is said that during this time, ghosts and spirits come out from the lower realm and linger in our world. The Hungry Ghost Festival is the opposite of the Qingming Festival and Chung Yeung Festival, wherein living descendants visit their deceased ancestors, on Ghost Day however, it is the opposite: the deceased visit the living.

When is Hungry Ghost Festival 2013?

In 2013, Ghost Month 2013 falls on Wednesday, 7 August 2013 to Wednesday, 4 September 2013. The 2013 hungry ghost festival / Ghost Day 2013 falls on Tuesday, 20 August 2013.

Want To See Him!!!

Forty Plus Hong Kong Superstar, and a personal FAVE of mine since the '80's, is Unstoppable!!! I still remember frequenting Chinatown and Clement Shopping district in San Francisco just to get his latest Record/CD/DVD - and if I dig hard enough, I know I still have them - and see his movies....  and this addiction continued on and was even more heightened when I moved to Taiwan, where he is very much loved....  it seems it was one of his early commercials made in Taiwan that caught on and got a lot of attention - then the rest is history, as they say....

He is back with another SOLD OUT SPECTACULAR SHOW! Yes, more than a concert - it is ALWAYS A SUPER SHOW!!!

This time around, besides the dinging and dancing, prancing about and looking good, thrilling both male and female fans - Aaron Kwok is doing some fancy acrobatics in his show, ala Cirque Du Soleil.. And all I can say is: "bring that show over to Taiwan so I can see already"!!!

Of course, he is as Hot as Ever! Even more dashing as he matures nicely... More manly and sexier - giving us folks reasons to strive even harder in keeping fit & healthy... And this warrants a Hump Day Showcase here!
