We are all too familiar with the saying: "In with the New and Out with the Old"... So how does one decide it is time to let go of the old... and embrace the new... or to not give up and make do of the old and work to make it last... and of course, we all know, that this can apply to just about anything and everything in our lives....

84 Days Before XMAS!!!!

Why is it that XMAS seems to come earlier and earlier each year...
I mean, growing up, it used to be that no one puts up XMAS decors till after Thanksgiving .... even Shopping Malls waits till after the Thanksgiving sales to get really ready for the Holiday offerings.... But now, forget Thanksgiving -- HALLOWEEN has yet to come and I already see XMAS decors at shopping malls both in Taiwan and in the Philippines...

Am just glad it has not soured me yet on this, my most FAVE Holiday of the year... come to think of it - I better start my XMAS shopping before everything else is gone and I have to resort to buying VALENTINE's gifts for XMAS!!! LOLs!!!

Photo was actually taken at the CAYLABNE RESORT in CAVITE, late last month... and yes, even in the midst of the Indian Summer sun - FROSTY is already out spreading out XMAS cheers...

Another Visit to Mom's

Back from my monthly visit to check up on my Mom... as always, it is a PLEASURABLE one for me as not only do I get to see how my Mom is doing, I also get to hear more stories of my childhood, as well as those of my siblings....

This time around, David tagged a long and was kind enough to not only bring OOLONG TEA but to also give pointers (to everyone's delight!)in making it properly... to get the most of the tea....

Before going to my Mom's for lunch though - we got to stop by ANTIPOLO and visit the famously known Antipolo Church.... it is said to be the church where traveler's must go to before embarking on their journeys... to pray for a safe journey.... I was even lucky enough to have been able to buy the Church's actual Patron Saint, The Virgin of Antipolo, to add to my collection.... that is always a treat....

3 On Laugther

"The most wasted of all days
is one without laughter."
-E E Cummings

"If you don't learn to laugh at trouble,
you won't have anything to laugh at
when you're old."
-Edgar Watson Howe

"No man who has once heartily
and wholly laughed
can be altogether irreclaimably bad."
-Thomas Carlyle

Sometimes, we really just have to find something that makes us stop and laugh....

IKEA: more than a furniture shop....

Sunday Brunch @ IKEA.... what more could you ask... great food.... lots of people to see... and beautiful things to peruse through afterwards.....
Blows me away as in the US - I know IKEA as a place to spend hours and hours perusing affordable and somewhat stylish furnitures plus other household goods.... here - IKEA is a whole lot more... it is a Family Outing.... a SHOPPING EXPERIENCE..... and if nothing else, a nice place for a SUNDAY BRUNCH -- if you want to be seen, as well as, see people -- and the people are just as colorful as the goods you can find at IKEA - That's For Sure!!!

Career Change???

Okay, i know am not alone on this one... being frustrated with our JOBs.... the demands... the frustrations... the work load... the hours.... the traveling.... they all get to us now and again... So it got me thinking -- if ever I do decide to leave this job behind... can I take something simple, easy, a NO - BRAINER type of a job....

Well, over the weekend in Kaohsiung, I was watching Todd, a member of the WU family whom I have known since moving here in Taiwan.... we were waiting for him to get off work at PIZZA HUT - he works there while he attending college... I found it fascinating... the whole order taking.... putting together the pizza and baking.... and the easiest part of all, delivering....

So I got to thinking : "WOW!!! I could totally do this JOB!!!!" and even tried getting on their scooter for added measure....
(The "flaming" logo on the RED SCOOTER used for delivering is just wicked cool!!!!
(NOTE: will only do this JOB in Taiwan as I hate the PIZZA HUTS in the US... and even more so, the one at MEGA MALL in Manila... instead I would totally do YELLOW CAB Pizza there... KUDOS to the bright YELLOW SCOOTERS....
gotta try those fro measure next time am in Manila...)

Mid Autumn 2008 Happenings

A weekend trip down south for the Mid Autumn Festival holidays... it was Perfect timing as there was heavy storm in Taipei... so we were able to get away from that... alas, the ride back in the midst of the TYPHOON was not pleasant... it was downright scary...

Still it was a great weekend as we got to get away... have fun with Wu Mama & Wu Papa, the kiddies (who are definitely not kiddies anymore!)... and most of all LALA the DOG!!!

More Photos Here!

Back In LaLa Land...

yep...reunited with LALA once more... Possibly the HI LITE of the weekend trip down to Kaohsiung (South of Taiwan) to spend the Mid Autumn Holidays was being able to see Lala again and see what he is up to.... and he surely does have a new trick -- BIANG BIANG (BANG BANG)... you say Biang Biang and he plays dead... as demonstrated by David:

Alas, in my case, more like - you say Biang Biang and he drops from boredom...LOLs!!!

We always have the choice.

We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us
so that we become increasingly resentful and afraid,
or we can let them soften us, and make us kinder.
We always have the choice.

-Dalai Lama
