tokidoki X hello kitty X 7-11 Hong Kong

Tokidoki Fans are in for a treat for the Holidays!!!   New tokidoki charms are being offered as a Special Premium Toys Offering by the 7-11 Shops in Hong Kong....   Just like the ones in Taiwan - one will be able to avail them by collecting stickers one gets when they buy from their local 7-11 Convenience Store shops....

From what I can make out, as I really cannot read Chinese (LOL!) - there will be two sets available... one collection debuted on the 7th of this month (December 2011) and another will make their appearance starting the 11th of January, 2012.... A total of 22 Hello Kitty x tokidoki keychain figures fans in Hong Kong will be able to collect…

All of this is quite EXCITING for me... so many FUN pieces.....  but ALAS, they will just be added to my tokidoki Holy Grails wishlist - as so far, no one in Hong Kong I know, has offered to help me acquire them.....  *SIGH*

tokidoki cares: tokidoki is strongly committed in a series of events to support the disaster relief efforts in Japan.First Up: Josh Duhamel’s tokidoki Relief Run on Sunday, March 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Monica Beach. All proceeds from this run will go to the American Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund.
tokidoki is also giving a special print on canvas for #PrayForJapan Art Fundraiser hosted by Sweet Streets and exhibited at JapanLA. 100% of art sales will be donated to the American Red Cross and those close to us.

SUGI POP!!!

Popular tokidoki artist and creator, Simone Legno, joins a roster of cool and popular POP artists for an Exhibition going on (in the USA!) right now thru the 16th of January 2011.... Other artists participating in the exhibition are Artists in this exhibition include: Takashi Murakami, Yoshitomo Nara, Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, KAWS, Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, ...and MANY more! The exhibition is entitled SUGI POP -- "Sugi" is Japanese for "too much" which plays on the sometime over the top art these talented artists creates... The above mentioned talented artists integrate influences from anime and manga, graffiti street art, and consumer culture to create the newest phenomenon this exhibition dubs: SugiPOP!. This multi-media exhibition includes painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and original artwork used to make anime films and manga comics. Am pretty sure that this exhibition will WOW crowds of all ages. I only wish I could fly out to view them all in person.

The last collaboration between the Japanese Shoe Brand, Onitsuka Tiger and the UBER CUTENESS and Fave of mine, tokidoki is just now beginning to hit the market.... be sure to check out your local shops, that carries Onitsuka Tiger Shoes.... These, just as their former collaborations are bound to SELL OUT FAST!!!
Here in Taipei, I was able to find them at SOGO Department Store - one style for the men (High Tops in 2 colors - Black & White or Purple & Black) and 2 styles for the women (High Tops and Converse style)... the shop only got 2 of each of the sizes and I was told were selling like hotcakes since their appearance....

I totally missed out on the tokidoki X MAC cosmetics - I do not plan on doing so with this newly announced collaboration... not that am after tokidoki collection will never ever be completer all the cosmetics to use, but because no tokidoki collection will be TRULY COMPLETE without a representation of each of the brand's collaboration.... PLUS, I see two cute little figures in the forms of key charms that accompanies the eyeshadow sets....

BLack Eyes Peas X tokidoki

I remember seeing this photo of FERGIE a couple of years back, sporting a tokidoki tee, as she enters her recording studio.... I remember feeling HAPPY & PROUD, as one one of my MOST FAVE artist is wearing one of my FAVE designer's tee... oh what little PLEASURE we get knowing we are not the only ones GA GA over something... and to see a favorite celebrity as well, added extra pleasure....

Now I see that the newest Black Eyed Peas Concert Tees are designed none other than mr tokidoki himself, Simone Legno... and what cool tees they are... I hear they can only be purchased by attending one of the concerts - to that I say, come to TAIWAN (or MANILA) and do a CONCERT PLZ!!! and don't forget to bring the tees.....

ACTUAL TEE LOGO - available in different tee colors. Now am wishing a FERGIE vinyl toy will be produced, much like the Karl Langerfeld one!!!

Black Friday - NOT!!!

Thanks to Juliana for getting me this one... issued a few years back, was LUCKY enough to have acquired him (Thanks Juliana - my co-hort in Be@rbrick Madness!!! and Sue for being Taiwan YAHOO AUCTION SAVVY!!!))

Wow, there's really so much to learn about these CUTE bears... so many different series's available and Special Limited Edition ones, not to mention the various sizes they come in nowadays.... A collector must really have self control & focus or the collection can go OUT OF HAND - FAST!!! As you already know - am already working on filling up 2 display cases... LOL!!! So am really trying (NOTE: Operative Word - TRYING!) to concentrate on certain series's - DESIGNERS (Comme des Garcons, Bathing Ape, FNAC - so far); ANIME/MOVIES (Terminator, Speed Racer, Evangelion, etc..); Artists (Jimmy Liao, tokidoki, kennyswork, etc..) & countries (19 issued so far and I have only 5 of them... long way to go - see bottom part of display case on the left...)

So, that's the latest of my Be@rbrick Quest.... Happy Friday Everyone!!!

CLOSE, but still NO toki shoes....

ONITSUKA TIGER, one of Japan's trendiest and more POPULAR shoe boutique has been issuing tokidoki X Onitsuka shoe wear for a few years now.... always LIMITED - these shoes have been sooo very hard to find - well, for me anyway....

we really do not have an ONITSUKA TIGER shop here in Taipei... and in Manila, they get so few and never any when am there.... they sell out fast.... not surprisingly as the shoes are just way too cool - whether you love tokidoki or not.... fun, colorful and great graphics.... even the SOLE is soooooo FUN & ARTSY!

Before I took off, I had to go to SOGO Department Store in Taipei to pick up something... I was so surprised to see a SECTION of ONITSUKA TIGER SHOES.... and lo and behold, Ttokidoki shoes!!! Cannoteven tell you the feeling - I was DEFINITELY SALIVATING for them and could not wait to TRY my SIZE ON.... SADLY, nothing on my size... waaaaaaaah!!!Anyway, I did not let that STOP ME.... I got the smallest size they had and tried them on... TOO BIG I already knew of course, but still could not help myself.... just tried them on and took a photo.... so at least, I can have a photo to add to my tokidoki collection.... LOLs!

Be@rbrick: 10 down - 35 more to go....

so I have always liked these cute articulated vinyl bears from Medicom, Be@rbrick... First released in 2001 as a free gift to visitors of the World Character Convention 12 - years later and you cannot help but be overwhelmed by the number of releases - a few different sizes and lots of collaborations. Even FAKES from CHINA abounds!

I remember picking up the ones that appealed to me each and every trip to JAPAN, I bought them for my collection and as presents... even got some to go with some Susie releases.

Fast forward to a couple of months back - Be@rbrick collaborated with tokidoki and the love for them once again, caught on fire. So far 4 regular sized be@rbricks X tokidoki has been released plus a couple pof 400% sized ones. All of them I had to have of course! During one of my many visits to MONSTER TAIPEI/MONSTER GEAR - a be@rbrick displayer, also made by Medicom, caught Juliana and I's attention... Of course, we each got one to properly display our collection... 'cept we did not even figure in that getting this would get us into more troubles as it houses 45 of them... 45!!! Oh well, so far I have uncovered 10 of them - 35 more to go to fill up this displayer, YOWZA!!!

Simone Legno X TARGET

FINALLY!!! My box of Simone Legno designed, "Back To School 2009" goodies for TARGET, USA have arrived... actually picked it up from the Post office last Friday, but waited till everything slows down a bit to TEAR INTO THE BOX...

The graphics are just too cool - but what else can one expect from tokidoki design master, himself! From what I hear, the goods SOLD OUT quite FAST... so am very GRATEFUL for my friend, Iveta, for picking them up for me - and making sure I get at least one of everything available... MUCH APPRECIATED, Iveta!!!
PHOTOS HEREI sure HOPE Mr. Legno will continue to collaborate with TARGET for other goodies....

Molly X tokidoki

Coming August 2009: Kennyswork MOLLY X tokidoki

Have always been fascinated with MOLLY - ever since I visited, MONSTER GEAR, when it first opened... lots of Mollys there... actually the shop seems to highlight Molly the most.... but at that time, I said to myself - I do not need to start another collection... and BOY, it would be another BIG collection for sure...

So what happens??? tokidoki collaborates with Molly...waaah! Of course, I have to order this 10" bundle of cuteness... and while doing so with my friend, Juliana, a couple of days ago (July 14th), we (MISERY TRULY LOVES COMPANY!!!) ended up picking up both the Molly Be@rbrick and the Molly Qee, Monster Gear's -- which would puts us both to having 3 Mollys each in our collections -- so does that make us Molly Collectors already? Am Afraid so!!!

Taipei Toy Festival - Photos Up!!!

As you already know, my main reason for attending this event, besides all the cool Vinyl Toys was to FINALLY meet in person, tokidoki creator/designer, Simone Legno... I had already missed him a couple of times before - once in Manila and another time here in Taipei... So this time around I made sure I will be in attendance...

It was a 4 day event, starting Thurs the 9th, the day I came back from my last Manila trip... still feeling a bit under the weather, I made sure I took my meds, vitamins, and drink lots of juices to get better and be able to attend... Saturday the 11th was date of choice to attend... Perfect day for Juliana and Sue - alas, due to unforseen reasons, Cecilia could not come and it worked out well as David got the day off from work and was able to use the extra ticket.

For NT$150 (US$4.50) - we got to enjoy a day's worth of meeting and greeting the featured designers; get to see in person so many toys and products I only got to see online and in magazines; but and get personally authographed those that appealed to us; and of course, SIMONE LEGNO. He was totally nice, accommodating and sweet... could not have been happier. We got our goods signed, personalized, took photos with him and of course, chatted a bit... it was PURE HEAVEN for us all!!!

Well, it was more like HEAVEN & HELL!!! HEAVEN as we were loving all that was on displayed abnd being offered... HELL as it was not good for the pockets, as most hobbies, are not. Two things worked in my favour though and I saved myself a lot of expenses: 1) I pretty much have all the tokidoki goods made so far... and 2) the other stuff I was looking for, from different designers & tokidoki, were not available... except I did luck out and found the LE Platinum Version of SABOCHAN... so of course, I snapped this one right away -- happily so!!!Some of my Purchases (Clockwise) tokidoki X Bearbrick: Issued for the Taipei Festival; Levi's X tokidoki tee; LE Platinum Edition Sabochan; Oli Bears "Heaven & Hell"
The experience was a real delight, one that I would totally recommend to all you Vinyl Toys lovers, and one I would love to do again, and again, and again.....
