Over the weekend while visiting David's family down south, Kaohsiung - we had a few moments to take a trek at Dream Mall to see the Exhibition of the History and Evolution of the Instant Noodles, presented by UNI-PRESIDENT, Taiwan's leading manufacturer and distributor of Instant Foods.... or for many of us, Cup Of Noodles.... was quite a fun and interesting exhibition.... truly educational for me as, since am not a big fan of cup of noodles, I never really knew how it evolved - it's origins... and the complete process in helping millions of people around the world get satisfy their hunger in 3 minutes!!!
AND YOU GOTTA LOVE THE SLOGAN!
I used to relegate eating Cup of Noodles, in the same vein as I did with the Macaroni & Cheese, to the college students who are too lazy to cook and/or travelers on a thrifty budget... but after seeing this exhibition, am looking at them a whole different way.... okay, tomorrow I must go to the supermarket and grab me a few...

There is No Escaping!!!
Oh well... no matter how it is supposed to be humdrum - something always comes along to make it not so... still, I am HAPPY - it was still a very quiet, relaxing lunch... more like a get together one than a BDAY celebration one.... so for this am HAPPY.... and the venue was the cool, and very healthy minded, AQUA Lounge in the infamous, AMBASSADOR HOTEL of Taipei.Joined by David and Juliana (who also gifted me with a SUPER SPECIAL LEVI's X tokidoki Limited Edition Tee), it was a 3 hr plus of chatting and snacking on the cool offerings of AQUA.... everything was presented well, and very healthily prepared -- so it was not a SIN to try a bit of everything... and that, I DID!!! Wouldn't you???

"the family that EaTs together..."
"...LaUgHs Together"
a visit in Manila is never complete unless I can take my family out for at least one meal... since my Mom is feeling better, I decided to get her out to the city for a bit of shopping and then dinner at SAISAKI, an BUFFET TYPE resto that serves Chinese, Japanese and Filipino food.... always a good choice with so many to please... we were joined by my nieces, Ameera & Nicole, my cousin Nanay, my half brother Cholo, and Kuya Ric... sadly, my nephew ace is missing as he is in the US at the moment...
As always, Ameera never fails to crack us all up with her stories and jokes... Nicole is always lost between texting and her iPod... and my half brother forever interrupted by his work, calling.... this time around though the thing that really cracked us all up is seeing my Mom come back to the table with a plate full of Japanese food and to my surprise, a BIIIIG BLOG of WASABI!!! Forgetting that it is her first time with Sushis, I asked my Mom, if she really liked Wasabi that much... to which she replied: "what wasabi? isn't this Green Ube (a Filipino dessert made out of TARO)?" Lols.... my nieces and I were rolling on the floor with uncontrollable laughter....

Dec 29th, 2008: A couple of firsts for me here....
It was Kristopher's BDAY, Nicole's BF..we decided to have them over at the condo and give him a little surprise treat.. actually, it was more an an excuse for us to make food.... David made SISIG & Brazo De Mercedes dessert -- from the pages of the KULINARYA BOOK... and Ace made his INFAMOUS Cheesecake which I finally got to taste, after many months of promises.... I was IMPRESSED.... it was so GOOOOOD (PWEDENG PWEDE NANG PANG LABAN, ACE!!!)that I treated them to WENSHA that nite..... but before Wensha we did get in a few more minutes of swimming....

Thankful!
I see myself as basically a nice guy.... simple.... friendly... helping in anyway I can, here and there.... and most of all, I ALWAYS TRY SEE see something GOOD & BEAUTIFUL in anything and everything.... no matter where I am... who am dealing with in life.... and with all the things that happens, not just to me but in this world we LIVE in....
Recently, we have SUFFERED a GREAT LOSS.... no one DYING - mind you... more like MONETARY LOSS.... a little over US$20,000 to be exact.... in these trying times, losing this amount is enough to drive anyone crazy or into a deep depression.... It would have been OK, I SUPPOSE, if it was just due to the flailing economy happening all the world.... but it was more DUE to TRUSTING TOO MUCH and being TAKEN by the EVIL PEOPLE of the world....
We have been PONDERING and yes, I CRIED over this for weeks.... and we are basically just now regaining our FOCUS ONCE AGAIN -- DRIVE and DETERMINATION.... Thanks to FAMILY, FRIENDS & LOVE ONES -- we are able to LOOK BEYOND all of this and GAIN BACK OUR POSITIVE OUTLOOK in LIFE...
As friends lovingly reminded me.... there is such a THING as KARMA... and $$$ can be gained once again with hard work and perseverance.... I do still have my HEALTH, my FRIENDS, & FAMILY -- and for this am very THANKFUL.... they are what MATTERS most in LIFE!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So HUG LIFE! HUG your LOVE ONES!! and MAKE every MOMENT COUNT!!!

Fun, Food, Friends
Saturday the 24th was spent most of the time at Juliana's home - here in Taipei... Juliana as most of you know is one of the few friends I do have here in Taiwan... you have seen her in some of my photo albums as I normally get together with her, at least, once a month - or we try to anyway... She is just as busy as I am - not to mention - she travels just as much, if not more, as I do.... so for the most part, we see each other in between our comings and goings....
The day was set for us to get together along with Sue & Cecilia... two other long time friends in Taipei... and yes, like Juliana, they are a couple of BUSY GALs!!! I see them less as somehow, our dates just do not mesh well.... so the few times we do see each other - we try to make the most of it.... a bit of history: Sue went to school in the USA as well... that is where she met Juliana - in college at Berkeley School.... we could have almost met as well, as she attended the same HS that I did... albeit a couple of years behind me....
David got up quite early in order to prepare most of the things he would be making for all of us.... then we stopped by the market, and picked up a few more items for the complete lunch we would all be sitting down to.... Got to Juliana's home by 11:30.... and right away David went for the kitchen to unpack...as Juliana and I huddled and admire her collection... the display I have yet to see as she changes her display cases now and again.... this time around she had momoko and Blythe dolls on display... of course, that was cut short as Chef David was calling for us for help with more prepping.....
Sue & Cecilia arrived half an hour later and Juliana and I could not be happier...Cecilia loves to cook and was more than happy to relieve us of kitchen duties.. David and her finished all the cooking - happily... as Sue, Juliana and I chatted about life & work... blogging.... flickr...eBay.... travels... and everything else in between.... time flew by fast and lunch was served...
Delicious meal all around... toasted bread topped with sauteed tuna and veggies... a creamy veggie soup in a nice shade of green... Pasta with herbs and garnishes with a side of Shrimp.... plus a sumptuous roasted pork, pre- and marinated in herbs and spices.... and for dessert, Sue & Cecilia brought a delicious turnover cake filled with all sorts of nuts an fruits... which went well with Juliana's fresh cut up fruits (pineapple and guavas)....
Later we retired to the living room for more chatting sessions and keeping up with each other's lives.. snapping photos... and of course, planning the next get together lunch.... which will have to be after I come back from a business trip... and Juliana and her MOM from a tour of Germany -- yes, that would be a whole month later... and wouldn't you know it... it was past 6PM.... and it was time to part ways and head on to our individual dinner plans..... LOLs....
Overall, it was another GREAT time with friends.... topped off with delicious food... not just for the tummy but also for the eyes....
