The way the program works is that, for every 40NT$ spent at Family Mart, one gets a sticker... a total of 20 stickers entitles one to redeem one Kewpie blind box - so you do not know which one you will get...
So hurry on down to your nearest Family Mart (if in Taiwan) and start your Kewpie Cutie Madness collecting fun... The Program runs till March 22nd....

ASTROBOY, at last...

As an avid fan of the MANGA and most Japanese Animations, I was put off at first with the look and feel of the film, of Astroboy himself.... but in fairness, once over my initial trepidations, I actually ended up enjoying the film. And now, am sooo glad I was able to catch it in the big screen. with the voices of Freddy Highmore, Nicholas Cage, Donald Sutherland and Kristen Bell (love her, love her voice!)- this version came on its own and can definitely use a sequel.

Be@rbrick: 10 down - 35 more to go....
I remember picking up the ones that appealed to me each and every trip to JAPAN, I bought them for my collection and as presents... even got some to go with some Susie releases.

Above Photo:SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION FENDI Be@rbrick - would get them but they are rather costly - too costly for my own good!!!Fast forward to a couple of months back - Be@rbrick collaborated with tokidoki and the love for them once again, caught on fire. So far 4 regular sized be@rbricks X tokidoki has been released plus a couple pof 400% sized ones. All of them I had to have of course! During one of my many visits to MONSTER TAIPEI/MONSTER GEAR - a be@rbrick displayer, also made by Medicom, caught Juliana and I's attention... Of course, we each got one to properly display our collection... 'cept we did not even figure in that getting this would get us into more troubles as it houses 45 of them... 45!!! Oh well, so far I have uncovered 10 of them - 35 more to go to fill up this displayer, YOWZA!!!

can't take my eyes... off of him... my ears, too!
so this past weekend I was reminded what I miss most in Taiwan television -- watching One Million Star (Taiwan's American Idol)... i miss seeing some really good, and some, not so good but kinda' funny performances form the local talent... plus I get to practice my Mandarin singing prowess.... hahahahahaha....
I say I miss it as for the last couple of years, we have made a conscious effort to not watch television so much... to not get caught up in any shows religiously that we cannot do anything or go anywhere for fear of missing a single episode... in pother words, we try to avoid being COUCH POTATOES in this household... LOLs.... so, besides an occasional DVD showing, we really do not get to watch TV much...
Anyway, last Friday Lyn & Shaun had a little SHABU SHABU nite for a few friends and us in their new home... so we were there for a good couple of hours and the TV was on... and it just so happened that my FAVE show, One Million Star was on... boy was I hooked, once more... why? because of this guy, Anthony Lee Neely(SP?)... not only does he have a rich, manly voice when singing either English or Chinese (so pure and such control) -he is also blessed with the looks, the cuteness to go with the voice.... take a listen of his version of The Blower's Daughter from the movie, CLOSER - even without looking at him... you will get butterflies in your tummy, GUARANTEED!!!
...and this is him singing a FAVE Chinese song of mine: Wo ZHENDE HAO XIANG NII:

Snoopy Dons Luxe
Snoopy, Charlie Brown's loveable beagle, turns 60 next year, but that doesn't stop the Japanese in celebrating early with a Special Exhibition at Tokyo Midtown - coinciding with Tokyo's Fashion Week.
International fashion brands Hermes, Chloe, Chanel and Balenciaga all created miniature looks for the beagle and his female companion. G.V.G.V., an edgy brand that shows in Tokyo this week, also designed its own pair of outfits with a distinct rock influence, complete with a guitar and microphone.

starting the week of with something cute...
walking about the many malls of Manila last week - I happen upon the Marc Jacobs window @ Greenbelt - an it's cuteness just called me... been a fan of his since the 80's when we was still with Perry Ellis.... then of course, he made quite a splash again revitalizing the LV line.... and now with his extensive namesake line.... had to take a snap even though it was a NO-NO to take photos....wish the bags were a bit more affordable as some of the ones for men are just too cute....

Coi + Oli Bear X 7-11 Slurpee
Introduced at last July's Taipei Toy Festival - these 3 New Premium Bears are available starting now through 7-11 Shops Only. Now, a bit of INFO on how to get them... it isn't as EASY as buying them or collecting stickers from one's purchases, in order to REDEEM them... one actually has to be in the mood for a SLURPEE (the HOT weather
is agreeing enough to crave these brain freezing concoctions!)... and you will be given a chance to DRAW a card that would either entitle you to a discount or a FREE SLURPEE Coi + Oli Bear...
Not sure how long the Program is for - but I do sure hope they turn up on Taiwan's Yahoo Auction - am sure that will end up being much cheaper (and less Painful to the Brain!) way to acquire these cuties!!!

Molly X tokidoki
Coming August 2009: Kennyswork MOLLY X tokidoki
Have always been fascinated with MOLLY - ever since I visited, MONSTER GEAR, when it first opened... lots of Mollys there... actually the shop seems to highlight Molly the most.... but at that time, I said to myself - I do not need to start another collection... and BOY, it would be another BIG collection for sure... So what happens??? tokidoki collaborates with Molly...waaah! Of course, I have to order this 10" bundle of cuteness... and while doing so with my friend, Juliana, a couple of days ago (July 14th), we (MISERY TRULY LOVES COMPANY!!!) ended up picking up both the Molly Be@rbrick and the Molly Qee, Monster Gear's -- which would puts us both to having 3 Mollys each in our collections -- so does that make us Molly Collectors already? Am Afraid so!!!

Blow Baby, Blow!!!
SOMETHING CUTE TO START OF THE BRAND NEW WEEK!Here's another cute way to keep cool this Summer.... Battery Operated Mini Fan in various KAWAII designs.... Lately I have been seeing a bunch of different designs of these mini fans - from Disney characters to Japanese Anime figures.... but the ones that appeal to me are these ASIAN characters themed one... with the BLUE one am holding being my fave...
Measuring less than 3 inches tall, they are lite enough that you can totally wear them around your neck - take them to go hiking for some cooling break or clubbing and they can double as conversational pieces...

Hello Kitty Cuteness, AGAIN!!!
Another get together lunch with Juliana... at first, for lack of decisiveness we were going to go to our regular TGI Fridays, next to SOGO on Chung Hsiao East Rd, but somehow at the last minute, we opted instead to give this Hello Kitty themed restaurant a try... just off the road... Hello Kitty Sweets - What a place!!!
I have passed by this restaurant a couple of times before, and each time, it is jam packed with people.. I actually thought they only served desserts -- given what is displayed in the front window... rows and rows of cakes, all adorned with Hello Kitty's face. Depending on how you feel about Hello Kitty -.they are either total cuteness or overwhelmingly gaudy. I prefer to take the Fifth on this one with my opinion - hehehehehehe...The place is two floors of Hello Kitty Heaven... with Hello Kitty emblazoned on just about anything they can put her Kitty face on - from the walls to the furniture... to the place settings... and right down to the food... How about a Burger in the shape of Hello Kitty's head? Or each and every dessert served is adorned with Hello Kitty's smiling face... A total Hello Kitty overload...
Most everyone do not mind though -- from what I witnessed... young and old; man or woman; each dines with a smile on their faces... everyone getting up and about admiring both floors, and snapping photographs to show their friends (or to BLOG about - like me!)... From what I gathered, tourists from all over flock this place... and today was no different, as I heard Japanese and Cantonese spoken from the neighboring tables...
The food was not too bad but certainly not something I would want to go back for again and again... they were tasty enough but does not warrant the prices in my opinion. NT$500 (US$15.00) for a small size pizza (and I mean small), a drink, & a chocolate cookie; or NT$350 (US$11.00) for a slice of cake and a drink - is a bit on the pricey side. Honestly, what you come and pay for is the sheer joy of dining in the midst of Hello Kitty & her fans.

something to make u smile....
now and again, we all can use something like so to break the monotony of life... to take time and enjoy life.... and to put all our troubles away and just sing a son...
-if only LIFE can be as easy, breezy, as putting on a musical...

Day Hike @ Shoushan (Monkey Mountain)
Shoushan is located on the western edge of the City of Kaohsiung, this area attracts a wide variety of birds, squirrels and of course, monkeys. One can walk side by side with these friendly creatures... all tame and cohabits with the humans quite naturally... and that is just what we did over the weekend.... it was extra fun for me as I just love these monkeys - remembering how we used to have a couple as pets growing up.... These monkeys seemed friendly enough as they walk about, sit around, play with each other - as people walk on by... they were not even bothered by the presence of Lala, and they will even sit with you if you are brave enough to sit close by....
A morning hike here is truly refreshing as at the top, one can see the whole harbour and city of Kaohsiung. Photos Here.

cows, bulls, and more...
One of the things I like best when is Kaohsiung is walking down to the Cultural Center... about a 15 minute walk from The Wus home... there is always something ahppening there... live performances, hip hop dancings, and various exhibitions.... this time we happen upon a cool art exhibition and the focus is to welcome the Year of the OX -- so all art posters, paintings & illustrations are of various cows, oxes, and even (the CHICAGO)bulls.... took a photo of some of my FAVES to share: CLICK HERE

Kawaii Ne!!!
Window XMas Shopping (am stressing WINDOW SHOPPING ONLY HERE!)the last few days during what little free time I have, I came across these really cool looking My Melody Vinyl Figures... Cute and Functional as they double as little mirrors, too! They are offered by HANG TEN, for the Holidays, along with a couple of Hello Kitty Coin Banks (in red or gold)... Of course,m I had to break down and get them...
Though I have liked the SANRIO stuff for many years now, I have always opted for the "not so pink" stuff... so these Goth Look works for me.... alas, the 3rd one in Pink is part of the set and one can only buy them as sets....Anyway, all these Sanrio cuteness reminded me of the photos we took of the "oh-so'cute" Hello Kitty Waiting Lounge at CKS Airports' Terminal 2 - Taoyuan, Taiwan. I have never seen soooo much Hello Kittyness in one place... even more overwhelming than the SANRIO Shop I used to go to on Stockton St, in downtown San Francisco.
So I dug up the photos right away and UPLOADED them on Flickr - Hello Kitty Lounge, CKS.Below: The Actual Waiting Lounge
