Wet Friday Night

Winding down the evening....  Friday, first night of the weekend....   as always, not much to do...  decided to brave the rain and  just trek over Shilin Night Market - for food & people watching....  and it was a good call as it was, as always crowded...   locals & tourists....   young and old alike.... so many people abound....
Needless to say, never ending choices of delicacies to munch on.... plus lots of Night Market goodies to marvel on: Clothes, Bags, Shoes, Accessories and Nick Knacks.... a couple of hours later - we had our FILL - both the Tummy and the Eyes!!!
The place is always a pleasure to visit....  just a total fun night out...
Even got to stop by the Temple to give respects and Thanks to the Gods!!!

Liouhe Night Market Trek

It is not often that we can drag Wu Mama out of her home... away from her sewing, temple activities and NUMBERS - so on this nite when she actually said yes to going out, we all could not contain our happiness and got ready we did.... Fast before she changed her mind, which she is known to do....

The place of choice is the Liuhe Night Market... one of the most touristy night markets in Kaohsiung... it was a fun nite filled with laughter, bonding, and even more lotsa' eating.... even Lala got to come and enjoy the nite.... Overall, it was a GREAT NITE OUT with the Wus... too bad Wu Papa could not join us -- i think he was tending to his garden and birds (one of his new passions).....

One Nite in Keelung

...is DEFINITELY not enough!!!! This is not my first time in KEELUNG really but somehow, this stopover trip, on the way home to Taipei from swimming in Longdong, made me see how there is sooo much to this PORT CITY!!!

It was our TRANSFER point from Taipei to Longdong and back.... during our first stop going, I was already AMAZED by seeing the STAR CRUISE LINES docked along the city port.... amidst all the different CARGO SHIPs.... it is AMAZING to see how much CARGO comes through here.... walking around, you also see sooo many WAIGUOREN (FOREIGNERS) like me.... as it is an International Port. Then coming back and stopping for some grubs in the Nite Market was just a HEAVENLY Experience!!! So many goodies to try.... prices are the same as they are in Taipei but the portions are bigger.... plus the people with the food stands are really friendly... not sour at all, though they have been doing this for many years already... The food selections is great - Taiwanese staples like Chou Dofu (stinky tofu), Mien Shen (noodles), Guotie (Pot stickers) abound... plus a few local delicacies... and just to my delight, many DESSERTS to choose from... of course I opted for a couple of servings of the Ice Cold Tahuie... can never get enough of that... CAN U SEE THE JOY IN MY SMILE HERE!!!

So What If It's A Rainy Saturday?

Rain, Rain, & lots more of rain all day and all nite long on this Saturday... still, we did not let that stop us from making the most of the day -- it is the weekend after all... and don't we all love and look forward to weekends...

Started the day by going to the GYM...we wanted to get a bit of exercise out of the way so as to not feel to GUILTY from all the eating and vegetating we will be doing on this day... Came home and rushed to get ready to see "Quantum of Solace, the new BOND movie.... right after, we had Japanese food for lunch... and then walked around a bit at the BREEZE Center, where most of our time was spent inside the KINOKUNIYA Bookstore... taking refuge from the rain.... when it let up a bit - we rode home... got a bit wet but still was satisfied with our first half of the day.... Came back home and did some work... answered lots of emails and worked on a few more things that needed looking after....
Around 5:30PM, we decided to walk over to the Roahe Night Market for din-din... it is still raining and actually, is pouring even harder now... the walk was less than half an hour so it was nice, though wet.... The usually bustling Roahe Night Market was anything but this evening... due to the rain, most people stayed away... which was a pleasant change for us... we did not have to navigate at a snail pace through hoards of people just to get to the food... so we were two happy, wet, campers.... besides, as an added bonus the street was lined with lite up trees, all set for XMas...Got our fill and walked back home... did a bit more of work and now we are awaiting for our FAVE shoe, SUPER IDOL... one of Taiwan's equivalent to AMERICAN IDOL... we watch it religiously...well, whenever we are in Taiwan anyway... Perfect way to end the nite... and dream of what tomorrow will bring...

Hope you are all having a nice weekend -- wet or dry....d
