BLIND PERCEPTION

"To treat your facts with imagination is one thing, but to imagine your facts is another."
~John Burroughs

Once cannot really control what others PERCEIVE as TRUTH....  this can be EXCUSABLE if they are MISINFORMED or NOT INFORMED at all...  but when that PERSON TWISTS TRUTHS, or even worse, MAKE UP TRUTHS to fit their own reality - then it is quite INEXCUSABLE...

No good could come of this... No Resolutions to Anything... and NO COMMON GROUND could ever be had...  So it is BEST to just LET IT BE... KEEP QUIET... MOVE ON....  and WASTE my time to much more WORTHY THINGS....  and PEOPLE.....

ROCK ON!!!

It is suffice to say that all my friends pretty much know that am sooooo into  MUSICALS....   I must have even stated it here, in a few blogs about Theatre and Movie Musicals....   so when the movie, from the 2006 Broadway Musical, ROCK OF AGES came out - pretty much everyone assumes that I will be there opening night...  but I was not... even  with the idea of seeing Tom Cruise doing his take on AXEL ROSE (writhing around stage half naked!)  being  soooo enticing  - not forgetting to mention Academy Award Winner Catherina Zeta Jones back in a Musical movie)...  somehow, I was afraid it would be too ROCK for me...as in Heavy Metal Rock... a GENRE of Music I never really got into....  Boy was I wrong!!!
I actually knew almost all the songs used for the film - and the storyline was nicely held together by the song choices....  it all worked for me - even found myself singing along to a few of the numbers....   sorry moviegoers...  :) - proving a point that a MUSICAL PERSON can actually appreciate all GENRE as long as they are GOOD MUSIC!!!  Stand out songs of course are "More Than Words" by Extreme and "Waiting For a Girl Like You" by Foreigner - but there are other Great contributions too from Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Journey, REO Speedwagon, etc...

The movie itself was by the numbers - simple, straightforward - and even the surprise regarding Catherine Zeta Jones' character close to the end was predictable....  still, all is forgiven as all the actors in the movie were just great...  to a point that you can actually feel them enjoying playing their characters - a bit exxagerated but just so that it is not too out of the place....  The young leads, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta are both capable, and had such a nice chemistry that you root for their love to overcome all the excess of the Rock and Roll world/scene in the 80's Los Angeles....

The small town girl and the big city boy's worlds collide.

Catherine, if were given a bit more to do, could easily walk away with another Oscar.....  Paul Giamatti is one wickedly delisciou A**hole of a manager....   the tandem of Alec Baldwin and Russel Brandt were soooo unexpectedly hilarious (the whole movie house was in such roaring laughter with their revelation for each other!)....   and  Tom Cruise...  well, what can one say?  Take away all his private personas - this guy is one hell of an actor....  he can actually do it all - believably!  Special Mention goes out to Miss Mary J Blighe - truly one DIVA of a performer....  all eyes on her when she is onscreen belting out her musical numbers...  what a voice!!!

I would actually reccomend this film.... one surprisingly fun and entertaining musical of a movie....  just the right kind of film you want to see on a rainy Friday night...  well, any night for that matter, really... .   :)
Of course this W Magazine cover was enough to interest anyone into seeing the film - but TRUST me - this is quite TRUE...   plus so much more!!!

NO H8

The NOH8 Campaign is a photo project and protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley in response to the passage of Prop 8, the ban on gay marriage. Celebrities and everyday people alike have joined this GREAT CAUSE and been photographed for the project.   The campaign was created on February 1, 2009 - and since it's inception over 20,000 people all around the world have participated.

Here's a few samplings of some of the famous, not so famous, soon to be famous, and ordinary people who lent their MUGS to SUPPORT the cause... Photos feature subjects with "NOH8" painted in one cheek and duct tape over their mouths - this symbolizes their voices being silenced by Proposition 8 and similar legislation all around the world.
.

...it's just plain WICKED not to say "NO H8"!!!

storm's a coming....

Judging by the clouds this early afternoon something WICKED, definitely,  this way comes...  We went from Sunny Blues Skies this morning to fast moving clouds changing colors from powdery white to darkness....... Storm's a comin, indeed....  Was actually warned by a friend on Facebook about the 2 storms heading our way: "oh my it looks like a double whammy for Taiwan with Igme then to be follow swiftly by Bolaven and a possible Fujiwara effect looming ahead."  All this sounds too scary to me.....  huhuhuhuhuhuhuhu....

Still, since I have Juju today, we took advantage of the earlier, NO RAIN YET, weather and had her Papa drop us off at Mitsukoshi in the Warner Village Area....  We window shopped....  took in the Exhibition on A9-9th Flr - only one left till the 26th of this month....

We took an afternoon break by sharing a MANGO ICE TREAT.... sadly for me, she chose to eat all the Mangoes and I was left with mostly the ice...waaaaaah......  Then we headed back to A8-4th Floor Kiddyland for a bit of Playtime for Juju....

We would have stayed through the night to window shop some more and play but sadly the predicted storm is already starting to make it's presence known... as soon as the first drop of rain fell, I decided we hop on the bus at once so as we can get home safely not be caught in the eye of the storm...

getting an early start to HUMP DAY!

Loooong night babysitting Juju...  I literally just finished showering and just drinking my herbal tea, unwinding a bit, before heading off to bed....  So I decided, I might as well be productive and get a (No Pun Here!) HEAD START on today's HUMP DAY post...  as there will be something for everyone here....   LOL...

Let me start with new CRUSH, British Swimmer & 2012 Olympic Medalist, Tom Daley - looking quite sexy on this photo that recently ran in UK's HEAT publication....  this boy is really being hyped everywhere - deservedly so - and am sure everyone, myself included, are quite HAPPY over this...  and could only wish for more....

Last nite, I also watched Nicholas Spark's The Notebook - for the not-too-sure-but-quite-plenty of times.... Ryan Gosling - what can one say? Talents and Looks all in one package.... This guy should really get an OSCAR already..... he can do it all - ACTION, ROMANTIC, COMEDY, and of course, DRAMA... needless to mention, HUNK DU JOUR!!!

Then there's Zac Efron slow dancing with the luminous Nicole Kidman in just his tightly whities....   and I better mention, they are very wet whiteys - as the scene from the upcoming movie The Paperboy - was all filmed in the rain...
...and then there is this shot of two of Taiwan's current HOTTIE IDOLS with LIPS LOCKING as they promote their current film, Fierce Wife, is trending hotly in Taiwan Yahoo....  one of them is Hot Actor/Model Chris Wang - whom I happened upon the other night on the street....  alas, he was with a girl so I did not want to intrude and ask for a photo snap....  the other guy's name escaped me right now, but he is also a popular Actor/Model...
and last but not the least, current fave Taiwanese Actor (who is also half British) Rhydian Vaughan - sleeping slumberly...
and on that note - I bid you all GOOD MORNIGHT!!!   HAPPY HUMP DAY!!!

Tuesday is Juju Time...

yep it is that time again... time for Juju-sitting...   as with the other Sunny Summer Days, we wait till after 5PM when the sun goes down to go out and play....  escaping the afternoon heat by making ourselves busy and indoors - playing catch me, watching her favorite You Tube vids on the iPad, eating, looking at photos of toys, cats, dogs and other children on Facebook, and playing her favorite Pinocchio Apps Games....

After 5pm...  when the breeze finally rolls in and the sun is about to set, we started our journey...  we headed to one of our favorite haunts, Dajia Riverside....  walking through all the lovely views, people watching, all the way to the Rainbow Bridge and Roahe Night Market....  even stopping by the Roahe Temple for a little praying.. Juju sure loves to "BaiBai" :)

I Need A ReStart!!!

Eeeeeek.... Just that kind of Morning, I Suppose...

Started off well enough....  nice restful sleep....   Just fine morning... sun shining....  coffee brewing....  and leisurely answering emails....  then it was time got my things together....   stepped out of the house - bag, wallet, hat, umbrella and even sunblock all checked...
But wait, where is my shirt... LOL!
Yes!  I indeed walked out of the house... got a block away before realizing I had forgotten to put on my shirt....  WAAAATSAIIII!!!!   Some would say it is Old Age taking its toll on me - but I will just go ahead and blame it on the heat....  yeah, you read that right, it's the Heat!!!  :)

I NEED A DAY RESTART!!!

Sunday, Sweet Sunday

Got up this morning at almost 9AM already... It was a sweet slumber, I suppose... Cleaned up a bit... Had my coffee... Then it was time for church...

Still reveling on the Summer Sun, I wore my summer colors... Armed with my Hat and glasses, (not to mention an umbrella) I set off in the midday sun, heady to Sunday Mass...

After mass, I headed off to XiMenDing to possibly catch a film or if there is any star gazing to be done... No movies(way too crowded!)... But did get to enjoy a couple of songs from Fish... She is out promoting her brand new CD... Not a personal fave, but nonetheless, entertaining...
Still, it was too hot to just stand or walk around, i continued my journey to the Warner Viewshow/Mitsukoshi area... Got there just in time to catch the next showing of Total Recall - which was pure high energy treat of a movie...   Kate Beckinsale more than filled Sharon Stone's shoes... she KICKED ASS!!!
Satisfied from the movie, I just went on to have my dinner then head on back home... Did have a minor incident during dinner but nothing that I could not handle - in my broken Chinese even! But am completely over it and refuse to even give it another second of my precious time... :)
So overall, it was a Sweet Sunday! Nitey nyt All!

16 Expressions

Came across a tidbit about an upcoming book by Celebrity photographer, Yu Tsai, called 16 Expressions...  One Subject/16 Expressions...   so far have seen shots of James Franco, Anne Hathaway, Janet Jackson, Kristen Stewart (Yes, she actually has more than one!!!), Lea Michele...  etc...  These shots in turn inspired me to do my own...   actually taken while waiting out the rain the other day - otherwise called - "When Boredom Strikes!"
(Mind You, this is just my FIRST TRY....  next time BOREDOM STRIKES, I WILL DO BETTER....  That's a Promise, Not a Threat!  Hahahahahaha....)

And here's the REAL ACTORS in their 16 Expressions Shoots.
Yu Tsai is a well known photographer and has been doing campaigns for Apple, Coca Cola and the fashion brand GUESS since 2007!  He is one of the CELEBRITY SHOOT GO-TO-GUY for various magazines and publications.

NO Gf*Bf for me...

Yesterday turned out to be a bit of a frustrating day....  nope it was not the back to work blues or anything to do with the weather...as a matter of fact, yesterday, the sun shone brightly....  it was actually HOT to be out so I decided to escape by taking in a movie...

Of course the movie of choice is Gf*Bf....  I was afraid that I had missed it already by being away when it opened back on the 3rd of this month....   but was quite HAPPY to see that it is still playing....   was soooo excited I rushed to the WARNER VILLAGE area to catch the film....  even on my own....    I was soooo disappointed to find out that the film had no English Subtitles....  as I asked the Ticketer before purchasing my ticket - just to be sure....   I cannot even say how HEARTBROKEN I am when I walked away from the theatre....  such a disappointment...  Been so excited about seeing this film since I have heard about it months ago....  been totally anticipating it....

I mean, if it was one of those Comedy or Sci-Fi, Graphic induced film - I would not even hesitate...  but I felt with this kind of relationship drama and touches of the Taiwan Revolution - I would definitely need the English Subtitles to get all of it....  not just parts.... besides would not want to miss any important lines....  and the thing that gets me is that, this movie has been making the International Film Festival rounds lately - so you would think that there is already a copy with English subtitles playing....  not to mention, lately, most if not all, Taiwanese movies have English Subtitles....

Oh well... I guess will just have to wait for the DVD release and hope that it WILL have the English Subtitles....  Too bad as it seems like the kind of movie you would want to experience in the BIG SCREEN - with other movie goers....  :(

Michael Phelps X Louis Vuitton

Fresh from his triumphant stint at the London 2012 Olympics, where he became the most decorated Olympian of all time - 22 Medals Total! - Swimmer Michael Phelps joins the likes of Bono, Sean Connery, Angelina Jolie, etc in endorsing the French Luxury Brand, Louis Vuitton....

27-year-old Michael Phelps was shot by celebrated fashion and portrait photographer Annie Leibovtiz in a bath tub - swimming trunks and goggles, of course! Strewn at his sideis  a bath towel and Louis Vuitton tote.
2nd image has Mr. Phelps chatting to Larissa Latynina, the former Soviet gymnast who, before he - no pun intented - lapped her, was the most decorated Olympian with 18 medals.
HAPPY HUMP DAY ALL!!!

2nd Day in Kaohsiung.., terrible gusty winds and heavy downpour all night long... Hardly any sleep... Decided to just get up by 6AM....

Just lounging about as everyone gets up one by one.... With a little break in the rain, Liya and I decided to go for a run..,, a bit scary seeing all the fallen trees, electrical wires, and just about everything flying here and there...

Then it was back at The Wus... Nothing to do but lounge about.. Hoping to fond an open place to hang out, even for just a bit... And not just stay in and eat, eat, and eat some more.... LOL..

One thing did come about from this boredom though, I got to learn about the APP Camera 360... More FUN for the photos... upper left is the original shot and below are a couple of treatment I like... :)

Kaohsiung Bound

Got up at 6:30am... Finished a few things and packed.. By 9:30am, we were already at the THSR, Taiwan's Speed Train on our way down south... Heading down to Kaohsiung for a few days... Could not have been more perfect, as right now it is storming in Taipei.... Seeing the news on TV, it looks quite scary, too... Winds and heavy rain.., accidents on the road... And flooding...

In Kaohsiung, so far it is off and on rain but the winds are quite scary, too... So just been hanging around the neighborhood and of course, eating a lot... and I do mean a lot!!!!

Little Big Girl On The Go!!!
Lovely Nite in KHH - as if there was no Typhoon whatsoever!
Wu Mama and Wu Papa never fails to deliver when it comes to welcoming me with an abundance of food.... LOL.... I always wonder why they think am too skinny???
